About the role
Who Are We? We are an early-stage aerospace startup building a constellation of space-based reflectors designed to beam sunlight back to Earth after sunset. The goal is simple but ambitious: extend solar energy generation into the night by reflecting sunlight from orbit onto solar farms. Our team is building the first spacecraft capable of delivering this vision. With strong backing from top investors—including a notable investment from Sequoia—we are preparing to launch our first spacecraft in 2026. The founding team includes experienced aerospace engineers with deep backgrounds in space hardware and spacecraft development. What’s in It for You? Own system-level design and interfaces for spacecraft avionics subsystems. Design, prototype, and validate flight computers, communication systems, and electronics supporting spacecraft power and ADCS systems. Develop in-house avionics testing infrastructure including flatsat systems, power simulators, GPS simulators, and communications simulators. Design and execute qualification testing for hardware across vibration, shock, thermal, and thermal-vacuum environments. Troubleshoot complex electronics systems and iterate on architecture to achieve optimal designs in constrained spacecraft environments. Establish best practices and tooling for electrical engineering design within the team. What Will You Need? Experience designing and validating PCBAs for spacecraft or similarly high-performance environments (satellites, aerospace, automotive, robotics, or defense systems). Experience owning high-reliability electronic subsystems from concept through deployment. Strong ability to work autonomously and take ownership of complex hardware systems. Hands-on experience designing, testing, and debugging electronics systems. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field. Strongly Preferred: Experience working on spacecraft systems or satellite avionics. Background in aerospace, satellite hardware, or high-reliability embedded systems. Experience at high-performance engineering organizations such as aerospace startups, automotive EV companies, or advanced robotics firms. Startup experience or experience at highly selective engineering organizations. Candidates who demonstrate exceptional accomplishments, unique projects, or standout achievements beyond traditional engineering career paths. Additional Notes: Candidates should demonstrate strong project ownership and experience working on technically complex systems. Candidates with a history of job hopping, consulting-heavy backgrounds, or limited ownership of projects are unlikely to be considered. This role requires working full-time on-site in Hawthorne, CA.
What we are looking for
